India’s wonder boy did it again at the Paris Olympics last night, coming back after an injury Neeraj Chopra gave a breathtaking performance to break his own record of Tokyo Olympics to win silver medal for India with a best effort of 89.45m, second only to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem who won Olympic gold with an Olympic record of 92.97m.

Neeraj managed only one legal attempt after five foul attempts and the single legal attempt was enough to win silver for him. He also became the fifth Indian athlete to win more than one individual Olympic medals for India.

With the first and second positions grabbed by Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra, it showed the prominence of Asian nations in a sports which has been traditionally dominated by Europeans.  The finish was also the first time in Olympics that India and Pakistan finished in the top two positions in the finals of Javelin event. Grenada’s Anderson Peters won the bronze medal

It wasn’t easy for Neeraj Chopra coming into the Olympics after battling an injury and top perform in an event which was star studded and highly competitive. As many as five throwers surpassed Neeraj’s performance of 87.58m from Tokyo Olympics

Undoubtedly one of the most decorated Indian athletes, Neeraj Chopra has once made the whole nation proud of his achievements
